Wow, What an Amazing RAM!

It’s hard to believe a whole month has passed since our third Rotherfold Artisan Market on 22nd June. Despite a very soggy summer week leading up to the festivities, the day itself was a scorcher and the little square outside our shop was bustling from start to finish.

The market opened with a bang, lead by the brilliant drumming group Sun Lotus Taiko Drums. Next came Kerry who sung and played us Soulful funk on her guitar while the coffee and tea flowed and the food was served. Throughout the day we were entertained by a stream of talented buskers, including Bird the seven year old violinist, Rob Carney’s Choir, 4Play String quartet as well as others.

Keeping everyone fed and watered were the lovely Sima of The Kitchen Table, Lamaro Bakery, Boho Cakes and Delphinis Ice Cream who each provided a delicious array of handmade treats.

Our brilliant Makers were Kathryn Craddock felted animals, Made By Oonagh jewellery, NaaiNaai kids clothing, Cliff Ellis pottery, Hog & Tallow soaps, Rosie Brewer wood and ceramics, and Inky and Grace flowers. We were also joined by The Craft Revolution with a t-shirt printing stall and Orsi of Eldeflower Kindegarten who kept the kids busy with wooden spinner making.

Me and East was open throughout the day and we were delighted to welcome so many visitors into the shop. We absolutely love connecting with our Makers and customers alike, and it was lovely to see such a brilliant turnout.

What is the Rotherfold Artisan Market About?

Our independent shop was set up to bring high quality handmade products to the high street, and give people the chance to discover and purchase the work of Makers from all over Britain. RAM is an extension of this and aims to build a sense of community in the local area. A collaboration between Chloe owner of Me and East and Sima of The Kitchen Table began in 2018 where we decided to celebrate our wonderful local producers and bring life to the beautiful Rotherfold Square. We’ve already held three markets since 2018, and are considering whether we can squeeze in a fourth before the end of this year. Even if we don’t manage it, we’re positive there will be more in future - so keep your eyes peeled for more news!
